It is our pleasure to introduce Dylan Ricky who serves as a Project Engineer at Vantage Plastics. Dylan started his career with Vantage Plastics as an intern while attending Saginaw Valley State University in May four years ago. After graduating with a Bachelor of Science and Mechanical Engineering degree he began as a full-time member of our team. Since Vantage Plastics is a custom thermoformer we are continually developing new products for customers. As a Project Engineer Dylan plays a critical role in the new product development process. In this role, he is basically the head person in charge of a project from start to finish as he oversees all changes and addresses all issues with technical level adjustments. This involves achieving precise fit and function, testing, and final product quality. During this process, he also develops the Build of Materials (BOM), process routings, control plans, and part specifications before handing the project off to a Process Engineer. Dylan says this about his position as a Project Engineer, “I like the variety of projects that I get to work on. I find addressing challenges and developing solutions to be very stimulating.” If you have a project at Vantage Plastics there is a high probability you will interact with Dylan as your custom project goes through its developmental stages. As you will see below Dylan is very good at keeping things on target.
Outside of work Dylan and his wife Gabrielle keep busy and have some very interesting life experiences within their backgrounds. Dylan became involved with archery at a very young age. At age 10 he began participating in archery competitions. He has won The Worlds twice and has finished in the top five of Nationals for The International Bow Hunting Organization (IBO) multiple times. He enjoys hunting, fishing, and golf. As a bowhunter, he has taken a few trophy-level bucks holding a record through Pope and Young with a buck measured at 161” the largest on record to date. If you google “Dylan Ricky big buck” you will find some YouTube videos featuring Dylan. Archery runs in the family as Dylan’s wife Gabrielle is also an award-winning archer. Their relationship began after being introduced to each other by a fellow archer at an archery competition.
Dylan and Gabrielle were married shortly after Dylan started his career at Vantage Plastics and reside in Gladwin, Michigan. After marriage Gabrielle graduated from BayShire Beauty Academy. In mid-2020 Dylan and Gabrielle bought a small shop at 419 E. Cedar Street in Gladwin and spent a year and a half renovating it from the ground up. This was right in the midst of the Covid pandemic. Despite the challenges, they opened “The Salon by Elle” in January of this year 2022. We are blessed to have Dylan and Gabrielle as part of the Vantage Plastics family. As you can see Dylan is certainly helping to fulfill our Mission of Forming Better Lives, Forming Solutions, and Forming Sustainable Futures.
