The WELL Outreach

WELL-1
Many community members and employees have asked about The Well Outreach in Standish and the “story” behind it. However, thus far the story is very small and JUST beginning, but this is what we have so far.

The Well Outreach is a nonprofit 501c3 that was opened by our very own president of Vantage Plastics and his wife, Paul and Michelle Aultman. They began the concept and idea of the organization in 2010 and have been working at it ever since. Paul knew that he wanted to do something more to give back to the community where Vantage Plastics resides and wanted to discover ways he can impact the people around him because welllll, he’s the most caring and giving person you will ever meet. Ever. (I’m so happy I get to publish these because he would never say it about himself). He’s the definition of a true “Leader”. The concept of “leadership” is the latest casualty of buzzword regurgitation, to the point that it’s become difficult to pinpoint the true meaning behind the term. However, through all of the noise it is a simple concept that is displayed every day at Vantage Plastics and The Well Outreach by our president, Paul Aultman. Leadership is empowerment. It’s lifting others up, helping them advance, and making them a part of something bigger than themselves. In short, it’s helping people to be a little closer to who they’re meant to be. And your leadership ability won’t be measured by our own advancement, but how well you advance the lives of others. This is what true leadership is.

In the development of The Well there was a lot of talk about helping and assisting the youth in the area… and that is always a no brainer, the youth is SO important and impacting their little lives can be instrumental in their growth as an adult. After meeting with other local leaders, we came to the realization that local churches and other organizations had lots of youth programs and we would give a helping hand when assistance was needed. The Well Outreach location is currently utilized by the diaper Warehouse for Bay Arenac Diaper Council, NEMSCA, Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), Bay-Arenac Community Mental Health, 4-H and other local youth groups. The Well will also be taking over Christmas 4 Kids in Arenac County!

As important as the youth and these programs are, we knew we had to dig DEEPER… What about the parents of these children? What about the adults and individuals in the area that need help? We COMPLETELY believe in the idea of “giving”, but we wanted to give in a different way than most. Instead of giving away free items to these individuals, we want to give them the resources and empowerment to buy their own items. We are going to help these individuals realize the tools they have and help them LEARN the ways they can better themselves and their families. We discovered that The Well wants to help empower INDIVIDUALS, empower FAMILIES, and empower our COMMUNITY. At a basic level, the term ‘empowerment‘ simply means ‘becoming powerful‘.  Building personal empowerment involves reflecting on our personal values, skills and goals and being prepared to adjust our behavior in order to achieve our goals. Personal empowerment also means being aware that other people have their own set of values and goals which may different to ours. Enlightening individuals of what they are capable of is extremely powerful and can be a domino effect within our community.

Therefore, The Well Outreach is a community and family centered organization whose aim is to build a stronger community by empowering individuals to take charge of their lives.  This will be accomplished through programs focusing on awakening the potential in people whose lives may have told them otherwise. The future of this organization is SO exciting and we are excited to start rolling out the different programs we will be hosting.

Our first program for January 2019 Is Financial Peace University. Financial Peace University is Dave Ramsey’s #1 proven program that will show you how to master budgeting, pay off debt, build wealth, and give generously. 78% of people in the United States live paycheck to paycheck and 7 out of 10 couples do not budget consistently. This program helps individuals and families take charge of their finances and helps relieve the stress of your money situation.
