Meet Robert Taylor
It is an honor to introduce Robert C. Taylor, who has been a member of our team for approximately two and a half years. Robert serves as a Project Engineer. In this role he plays a pivotal role in the success of projects running through The Vantage Plastics Family of Companies. Providing customers with exceptional experiences is always our intention, and to this end Robert has frequent interactions with customers related to their projects. These interactions can range from providing updates on design, timing, approvals, and a variety of other related factors. Known for his meticulous attention to detail, Robert is highly regarded for staying on top of every project he manages.
Internally Robert works with an assigned group of our field application engineers as they submit new projects. Once cases are submitted, he then begins work with our designers, and members of our engineering group, to help guide the development of the most appropriate solution. His primary focus is to deliver solutions that exceed customer expectations and are seamlessly manufacturable for handoff to our Process Engineers.
Robert brings an impressive forty-one years of manufacturing experience to the Vantage family. Over his career he has been exposed to a wide range of manufacturing equipment and processes and has served in several different management roles. Robert spent about twenty-six years at Cadence Innovation (aka: Venture Industries) where he had roles ranging from Quality Engineer/Manufacturing Engineer to Plant Operations Manager. He then went to work for US Farathane for eleven years where he started as a Manufacturing Supervisor/Process Technician and worked his way up to serving as the Operations Manufacturing Manager at a facility in Austin, Texas, overseeing seven hundred employees. At US Farathane Robert became a “Presidents Award Winner” for achieving outstanding team performance. Robert has always taken advantage of training opportunities and has achieved several industry certifications. He has also completed a variety of courses focused on effective approaches to business management strategies. Robert’s dedication to professional growth is evident.
Although he enjoyed his time in Texas he says, “My wife and I got homesick for Michigan and our family when Covid struck. My mom, brothers and sisters as well as my son all live in downstate Michigan. We especially wanted to get back to help oversee my mom during Covid.” While he had sold his downstate home when he had moved to Texas, he had fortunately retained a cabin on a lake in South Branch, Michigan which is located relatively close to the Vantage Plastics facility in Standish. Seeing an open position at Vantage Robert applied and became a great addition to the Vantage team.
When asked what he likes about working at Vantage Plastics Robert says, “I think what’s special about Vantage everybody is pleasant. We have a lot of very helpful people that promote teamwork. Everyone is respectful. It’s a great place to work because of how management and co-workers treat you. The company does a lot for employees and the community, and I think that’s big.”
Outside of work Robert is an avid “hometown” sports fan. He is really into all the Michigan based teams including the Lions, Michigan Wolverines, Red Wings, and the Pistons. Being in the “winter, water, wonderland” of Michigan and living on a lake he and his wife are avid campers. They enjoy camping with their dog and cat and often with friends. Kayaking, e-bike and golf cart riding are all enjoyed. Robert also enjoys golfing with co-workers at Vantage Plastics during the summer months.
We're truly fortunate to have Robert C. Taylor on our team and look forward to seeing his continued contributions. His wealth of experience, dedication, and positive attitude contribute greatly to the success of Vantage Plastics and our mission of Forming Better Lives, Forming Solutions, and Forming Sustainable Futures.
